Our Commitment
21Shares believes that the crypto market should be accessible to everyone while also being sustainable.
Since 2021, 21Shares has been measuring its carbon emissions for all commercial operations, travel, office usage, on chain crypto transactions, and upstream components. Based on our carbon footprint, we finance climate protection projects to take responsibility for our products and business functions.
Our contributions support climate protection projects that include cleaner power generation and reforestation efforts, all designed to protect our planet for future generations.
Milestones
Minimize Our Footprint
We assess the carbon emissions that stem from our business operations. Once we collect enough data, we aim to identify and implement effective measures to minimize our carbon footprint together with our partner myclimate.
Investing in Climate Protection
We continue to monitor our carbon footprint, report our progress and invest in high-quality climate protection projects based on our unavoidable carbon emissions. When we build new products, we include them in our calculations to fully cover all aspects of our carbon footprint.
Carbon Calculations
We assess the company’s entire transaction history in order to calculate the carbon emissions from our products. This record includes every type of transaction. Once we have determined our carbon footprint, we calculate the carbon permits we need in order to offset our emissions. Our accredited partner myclimate validates our data and supports us in financing high - quality climate protection projects that also adhere to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) standards. We continue to contribute to selected projects based on our transaction emissions every year.
Methods
We have developed a rigorous strategy to measure our carbon footprint.
We continually assess the environmental impact of our products and our business operations. We calculate our footprint using the method outlined in section 2.2 of our methodology paper. Based on this data, we invest high-quality climate protection projects to take responsibility for our unavoidable emissions.
